Auto Technology Might Put Pedestrians in Danger
In the past decade, the technology that comes with motor vehicles has changed greatly. Many cars have automatic braking systems, obstacle detection and alarms, in-car navigation systems, and more. These safety systems are meant to prevent accidents and keep motorists safe from harm. However, drivers should not rely on safety systems too much, as they can be flawed. Having automatic brakes is not a reason to allow yourself to get distracted and stop paying attention to the road. Specifically, one recent study found that braking systems on four different popular car models did not prevent pedestrian collisions.
